To obtain Canadian university/college admission, an international student must meet both academic and English language requirements. Quite often, it is not difficult for international students to meet the academic requirements. However, lack of English proficiency may be a major obstacle that prevents students from coming to Canada to study when their first language is not English.
Normally, for the English language proficiency requirement, most of the Canadian schools require an English language test score of at least IELTS 6.0/6.5 or Duolingo 100/110. Many international students find these results difficult to achieve because of their limited English training and lack of English learning resources. This means they cannot meet Canadian schools’ admission requirements and thus are unable to study in Canada.
We truly understand this English language barrier faced by international students as they pursue their goals of studying in Canada and we take steps to help them to overcome this barrier.
Through our Anthony International Academy of Canada, we offer an English Pathway Program to international students. The purpose of our English Pathway Program is to help international students to achieve a level of English proficiency that is equivalent to at least IELST 6.0/6.5 or Duolingo 100/110, so that they can meet the English language proficiency requirement for their study in the Canadian schools of their choice. Our English Pathway Program is approved/recognized and accepted by all our Canadian school partners. Once an international student has completed and passed this program, he or she will automatically meet the English language proficiency requirement with no need to take any additional standard English tests.
Our English Pathway Program is designed as English for Academic Purposes (EAP). It will teach international students EAP courses so they can be ready for their studies in a Canadian school.
The program consists of three modules and each module takes 12 weeks to complete. It takes a total of 36 weeks for a student to complete the whole program as described below:
- Module 1 (12 weeks): Pre-Intermediate English
- Module 2 (12 weeks): Intermediate English
- Module 3 (12 weeks): Advanced English
Throughout the entire program, international students will learn the following four English skills: listening, speaking, reading, and academic writing.
The teaching format for this program will be primarily online classes. All our teachers are native English speakers with many years of experience in teaching English as a second language. A graduation certificate will be issued to a student once he or she completes and passes all examinations of the program.
For international students, there are several advantages to taking this program through our online teaching:
- Students will get a conditional letter of acceptance (LOA) for their admission from our Canadian partner schools when accepted into this program.
- They can take and complete it remotely from their own countries before coming to Canada.
- They will save some living expenses because they can stay at home while doing this program.
- They will meet the English language proficiency required by our Canadian partner schools before arriving in Canada and start their academic studies as soon as they are in Canada.
- They will get an unconditional letter of acceptance (LOA) for their admission from the Canadian schools with which we partner upon successful completion of the program.
